Meals are provided by the School Meals Service and delivered to the school from the canteen in Maesyrhandir School, Newtown. These comply with the nutritional guidelines set out by the Welsh government in the document ‘Appetite for Life’. As an alternative to the set meal, a ‘healthy tuck box’ can be provided for the same price.
A varied and healthy menu, set by Powys Catering, is issued each academic year along with details of costs.
Alternatively, children may bring their own packed lunches (No glass bottles please). As a ‘Healthy School’ we encourage all pupils to eat a healthy, balanced lunch every day and expect parents to prepare a healthy lunchbox for children who bring a packed lunch – sweets, chocolates and fizzy drinks are not allowed and please keep chocolate biscuits, crisps etc to a minimum.
Wednesday is our official Healthy Lunchbox Day when we hope all lunchboxes will contain a healthy, balanced meal.
