The internet is a very useful tool and in this modern world is part of everyday life which young people now take for granted.
Most pupils will visit websites on computers at home as well as in school. A large number of the pupils in Years 4, 5 and 6 and many younger pupils too will have their own mobile phone. Many of the older pupils say they use internet messaging or chat rooms to contact their friends out of school and game on-line.
At St. Michael’s we take e-safety very seriously. It is important to ensure pupils go online safely and know what to do in all situations.

- not telling anyone where they live or what their phone number is or revealing anything about themselves or about their friends (especially home address or phone numbers or other contact details
- being security smart - keeping their username and password safe so that someone can’t get on to their snapchat/email etc account and can read or change these
- only linking to other websites if they are sure they are safe to visit and are appropriate for their age and maturity
- not to communicate (sharing documents or email) with people they don’t know
- not to play or game on-line with people they do not know personally
- never to post something online in a chat room or email which is likely to cause offence to someone else
- not to upset or bully anyone
